The Macleay St apartment cost $2.4m in 2020 and was then leased at $1300 a week. Ellicott, and his wife, Colleen, who died in 2020, lived in a 12th-floor apartment which was bought in 2004 when they moved from Elizabeth Bay.
They were both big supporters of the nearby Wayside Chapel.
In his latter years Ellicott would occasionally be seen catching up for a coffee in the neighbourhood with Richard Woolcott, the senior public servant and diplomat, who died earlier this month.
