THE waterfront home of a retired celebrated Socceroo footballer has sold for $1.9 million after being on the market for about 18 months.

The luxury 1006sq m property on Hope Island Resort on the Gold Coast was owned by Craig Moore and his wife Heather, The Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

Craig Moore was capped 52 times for Australia in a glittering career where he played for then Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers, English clubs Crystal Palace and Newcastle United before ending his career in the A League at Brisbane Roar and at AO Kavala in Greece.

McGrath agent Philip Chillemi sold the property, which had been Craig and his wife Heath's home for about five years, prior to auction. Moore will now build a new home at Hope Island Resort.

The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom property, which has direct access to the Broadwater, has a pontoon for a large boat and also features a games room with a built-in bar, an outdoor kitchen and 12m pool with a spa.

The property, which had been on the market for about 18 months, has been sold to a Gold Coast couple.
