‘Sims-like’ New South Wales rental pic taken down by Ray White

A notorious housing justice campaigner has revealed his newest target that has caused the internet to erupt in laughter.

Housing justice campaigner Jordan van den Berg, known by his social media moniker ‘purplepingers’, has outed Ray White for posting a digital bed recreation in one of its new listings.

In recent weeks, Mr van den Berg has become well known for posting the addresses of vacant houses for people in need and calling out what he calls “s**t rentals” on his TikTok account.

On Tuesday, purplepingers posted a picture of a Ray White listing on Erskine Street in Riverwood, New South Wales, which shows a digital recreation of a bed inside a real bedroom.

“Every now and then Ray White come up with something that absolutely blows me out of the toilet – this is a recent favourite of mine,” Mr van den Berg said on his X account.

Commenters on the X post joked, “I assume the cartoon bed is included?” and, “My Barbie had a similar bed in the 1980s.”

“Is this a screenshot from their current Sims game?” another asked in jest.

Other commenters criticised the agency directly, with one saying, “worst agent in Australia they are like a crime family.”

Since Mr van den Berg posted on Tuesday, the digital recreation photo has been removed from the original Ray White listing. There are currently no digital recreations in any of the listing’s photos.

The assistant agent for the listing, Lawrence Ng, said digital recreations like these are “not common” and that the owner had requested them in this particular instance.

Mr Ng said he has never had a request like this in his two years as a real estate agent.

“We don’t usually add things onto the photos,” Mr Ng said.

He said he was unaware of why the photo has since been removed.

The three-bedroom house with one bathroom is up for $800 a week with a $3200 bond and is open for inspection this Saturday at 11am.
