‘Sensual massage with oral once a week’: Seedy sex-for-rent ads highlight affordability crisis

FOR Aussies across the country struggling with skyrocketing rents, these landlords have an offer — but it’s not pretty.

Landlords are offering free rent in exchange for sex.

AUSTRALIAN landlords are taking advantage of skyrocketing rents to prey on students, low-income earners and even homeless people by offering “sex for rent” arrangements on popular classifieds sites.

One man offering a room in South Brisbane “for the right female” describes himself as “honest and respectful and just looking for a lady to share my house [with] free rent in return for company”.

“I’m a normal guy just don’t have time for relationships/dating so thought this might work for someone needing to get out of bad place or back on your feet etc.?” the ad says.

“Free spare room in Dandenong,” another ad reads. “Rent is free and so is the sex and only for women no men.” In Coffs Harbour, a “house boy” offers sex in exchange for a free room. “House boy ... looking for a room for to rent for sex, will do anything you say,” he writes.

In trendy Newtown in Sydney’s inner-west, another ad offers a free room in exchange for “regular three times a week sex”. “All bills, included, in addition to broadband internet usage (as long as you don’t take crazy long showers and keep the heater on all night),” the ad says.

“Only interest in girls of Caucasian, Middle Eastern, European or Latina descent.”

In St Marys in western Sydney, one landlord is offering a “room for female international student, discount available” for “an attractive, clean, reliable, non-smoking young lady”.

“Even if you study in the city, you may consider the 55-minute train trip worthwhile, since rents in the city are around $180 a week to share a room with numerous people, or almost double that to rent a room on your own,” the ad says.

“You can pay $210 per week, which includes all bills such as gas, electricity and Wi-Fi, or you can pay $110 and provide a 30-40 minute sensual massage with mutual natural oral once a week. I also give a nice massage, so an hour of mutual sensual massage is an option too. Email with some details about yourself, and a full body picture or two.”

In Bexley in south Sydney, another ad offers a “free private room for female friends with benefit”. “Hi girls, I have one bedroom available in my two-bedroom unit available for free for some naughty fun,” the ad says. “No restrictions, no commitments. Can move whenever you want and move out at your own will.”

And in Bella Vista in Sydney’s north-west, a room in a four-bedroom home with a married couple is available for free to the right female housemate.

“I’m looking at finding a fit girl who can be a normal housemate but pays her rent with NSA [no strings attached] ‘fun times’ without my wife knowing (who also lives here but spends a lot of time at work),” the ad says. “So being able to play the part of regular housemate and be discrete is required.”

Meanwhile in Preston, Victoria, another ad offers “free living, all bills and rent paid in exchange for regular sex”. “The title says it all,” the ad says. “Free rent in your own private room, all bills paid in exchange for regular sex.

“You will also get free use of a full range of hair, beauty and laser services. Spend your day care free with a massage, get your nails done, a daily blowave or any other type of pampering before coming home to a cooked meal and wine. All living costs paid! Just be a cool female!”

In Townsville, one ad offers a free CBD apartment. “I live in the T1 Apartments in the Townsville CBD,” the ad says. “Willing to rent out room with no bills in exchange for sex from a female under the age of 30. I am 27 drug and disease free and expect you to be the same.”

And on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, one landlord even throws in “unlimited internet” in addition to free rent for sex. “Looking for a young woman that is looking for somewhere to live,” the ad says.

“I offer your own room, own shower unlimited internet, there is also a pool but a little cold now. I work away, two weeks on one week off, so much of the time you will be on your own. In return you will pay me with sex while I am home.”

In Liverpool, south-west of Sydney, another landlord offers “rent free accommodation for, short or long term”. “In return for staying, you will provide nude cleaning services,” the ad says.

“Or will be willing to be nude around the house for negotiated times of day. There will be no sexual contact! Genuine ad, genuine replies please, replies with photos get first preference.”

Over the weekend, one woman seeking a room in the affluent suburb of Mosman was shocked when her prospective new roommate outlined his “bold condition”.

The man explained that no one had come to see the room for two weeks. “Okay, what is the condition?” she asks. “Flatmates with benefits,” he replies.

The woman posted the exchange to a popular Facebook group, where reaction was mixed. “Name and shame the creep,” wrote one commenter.

In response, another person asked, “How is he a creep? He was straight forward, upfront and honest. If he advertised a room for rent then tried moves it would be creeping. You’re all acting like a bunch of conservative losers. Have sex people, it’s fun.”

Earlier this year, the annual Rental Affordability Index by SGS Economics & Planning found skyrocketing rents were increasingly pushing low-income earners out of metropolitan areas across the country.

The study found rental affordability in Sydney at a record low, with the average household now in housing stress — paying 29 per cent of their income on rent — while a single pensioner renting a one-bedroom unit anywhere in the city would be paying 60 per cent or more.
