Real estate agency’s wild email ahead of ‘Thank A Property Manager Day’
A real estate agency’s email notifying renters of a special day has been brutall mocked — and left others in disbelief.
An Australian real estate agency is under fire after telling renters that, in order to celebrate their property managers, any “non-urgent” requests would be ignored for the day.
Friday November 29, 2024, is ‘Thank A Property Manager Day’.
The day, which is held on the last Friday of November each year, was created by Stacey Holt, CEO of Real Estate Excellence, a company that offers training services for the real estate industry.
She invented the day in 2012 as a way to celebrate property managers and the work they do.
It seems one real estate agency has really taken the message to heart and has decided the perfect way to celebrate is to ignore tenants.
A screenshot of an email reportedly sent to a renter by an unnamed real estate agency was recently shared to the Reddit Australia group — and it has left social media users dumbfounded.

The agency described the day as one that is “long overdue to celebrate” and a day for all to “stop, think and celebrate the wonderful role property managers play in our industry, communities and society”.
“On a day-to-day basis our property managers manage the difficult conversations, they deal with the issues, they provide support to both parties at different times and continue to educate themselves to ensure an understanding of legislation, maintenance, finances and social work,” the email states.
The message concludes with the agency informing the renter that the company’s property managers will “not be available” for the day and will only act on “urgent matters”.

The post sparked hundreds of comments, with the vast majority incredibly unimpressed by the email.
“Property managers are so detached from reality,” one person said.
“Thank them for what, exactly? They aren’t advocates for tenants. I can see them sending it to landlords, but why tenants? ‘Thank you for raising my rent by $150 this year’ or ‘Thank you for trying every possible trick to take my bond’? That kind of thanks?” another wrote.
Others branded the email “so embarrassing” and “bizarre”.
A property manager even chimed in and claimed the email was likely thought up by a “Boomer office manager with no self awareness”.
Speaking to news.com.au, Sydney real estate agent, Amir Jahan, said he had been working in the industry for seven years and he has never heard of another agent celebrating ‘Thank A Property Manager Day.
“As a real estate agent, when we sign up for this job, we know we are going to be working six days a week,” he said.
“When we sign an agreement with the owner, that means we are managing the property on behalf of the owner. So that means we have to be available when the tenants need us.”
Mr Jahan, who founded A-Class Estate Agents, said it doesn’t matter what celebratory “day” it is, you still “have to be there to answer your tenant”.
In this case, he believes it is the property managers “trying to be lazy”.
