Live with the Queen: Job openings at Buckingham Palace
ROYAL FANS it’s time to freshen up your resumes — with four live-in roles currently calling for applicants at Buckingham Palace.
IF you’ve ever dreamt of rubbing shoulders with royalty then you’d better freshen up your resume — with four live-in roles currently calling for applicants at Buckingham Palace.
That’s right, you could live for free with the Queen.
All four roles report to The Master of Household Services, and salaries are advertised as “competitive”, — with included accommodation at the Palace if desired.
Of course there’s no guarantee you’ll be rubbing shoulders with Lizzie everyday, as there are 775 rooms — which include 188 staff bedrooms.
But you never know, perhaps you’ll see her at the palace post office, cinema, swimming pool, doctor’s surgery, or jeweller’s workshop.
The opportunities are endless really.
And in terms of skill set required to land one of these dream jobs, there’s a fair bit of variety.
You’ll have to get in quick for the first role on offer at the Palace, with applications for Kitchen Porter closing on Friday (August 24).
The good news for this one is “previous experience is not necessary for this role as training will be provided, but you will be interested in working as part of a professional hospitality operation.”
So pretty much anyone can apply.

Role number two closes on August 26, and as a Palace Attendant you would “play an important role in making sure every event has a smooth set-up.”
“Whether you’re setting up for a department meeting, or arranging the state rooms for thousands of visitors, you’ll liaise with colleagues across the organisation to deliver a seamless operations service,” the listing says.
You’ve got a bit more time to prepare your resume for role number three, with applications for a Sous Chef closing on September 5.
This role “will be based in London (at the Palace if you choose), and will involve travelling to other Royal residences,” the listing reads.

You have until August 31 to apply for the role of Assistant Housekeeper.
The listing says: “as Assistant Housekeeper, you’ll support the Head Housekeeper to plan and deliver all housekeeping services to the very highest standards at Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace and at other residences.”
Who knows who you’ll bump into.
