A Victorian resident has shared their disbelief – and amusement – at a recent email sent by their landlord.

The rather unusual message was posted on Reddit by the shocked local, who captioned it: “Please enjoy this email received from the landlord entitled ‘RE: Dog Excrement’ – Elsternwick shenanigans.”

It was sent to all residents who had provided an email contact to the landlord, and stated that a neighbouring property in Elsternwick, Victoria had called to advise of a rather unpleasant issue.

It continued: “One of our residents who is quite clearly too lazy to go to the bins is throwing their ‘dog poop’ bags out of their balcony and into the yard of this neighbour. They collected four bags just today.

“This is not normal behaviour and must stop immediately.

“It was also noted that some of the bags are too high for this neighbour to reach – they are near the car park entrance, but I couldn’t get more information than that.”

They than asked the recipients of the email to pass on the information if they have a managing agent looking after the property.

Sadly, the comments on the post indicate this isn’t a rare problem for those in units – and even houses.

One commenter wrote: “Wow I recently lived in a block of flats and one of the flats kept doing this with their rubbish as well, landing in the yard of another resident.

“I thought it was a weird horrible anomaly, but to hear of someone else doing it? How disgusting. People are hideous.”

While another said: “My strata has previously sent photos of dog s**t to the building wide email distro (sic) before. Pretty funny stuff.”

And a third: “Hopefully a fine can be justified. This is putrid behaviour.”

This poor person also had a closer encounter of the stinky kind, however they also sought revenge: “I once had a person down the street from me throw their dog s**t bag on my front lawn, I made sure to return it to their doorstep after I saw them throw it.”

One owners corporation even had to take things further in their attempt to find the poo flinging culprit at their location.

“Owners corp at my place had to install a camera pointed at the balconies to work out who was chucking dog s**t off the balcony and letting it splatter,” a resident wrote.

And this commenter said they witnessed something arguably worse: “I was in an apartment building in the city a while ago and saw the roof of the shorter neighbouring building had nappies all over it. Someone was hurling them off their balcony.”

The takeaway message from this all?

“Don’t throw bags of dog poop at your neighbours,” as one commenter stated.
