The veteran 2GB broadcaster was active in the property market before his surprise retirement news.
Top talkback radio host Ray Hadley looks to have been planning his surprise retirement with some savvy property moves in the last few years.
The moves, which include purchases and sales across NSW, could now be viewed as part of a retirement plan in light of the retirement news.
The veteran broadcaster of 50 years made the retirement announcement on his 2GB radio show, stating his last day on air will be December 13.
“It’s been a hell of a ride from a young bloke wanting to call the races to being the old bloke sitting in this studio for so long, but the time has come for someone else to do the job,” Hadley told listeners.
“2GB has been my home for almost 24 years. I’ve worked with some outstanding colleagues but none better than my current crop of young producers.”
These are some of the radio icon’s real estate moves in recent years:
Dream holiday home
Back in July, Hadley offloaded his long-time Gold Coast bolthole for $2.05 million.
The legendary radio host purchased the three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in 2017 for $1.225 million.
Spanning 174sq m of open-plan living, the 20th floor Main Beach Pde unit has 180-degree views of the city, hinterland, ocean, Broadwater and Main River from its interior and balcony space.
Its amenities include a swimming pool, spa, sauna, steam room, gym and tennis court.

Central Coast weekender
Last year, the top-rating 2GB broadcaster and his wife Sophie snapped up a Central Coast weekender.
At the time of acquisition, Hadley announced he would be staying on the airwaves for another three years.
The couple bought a five-bedroom home on the Bouddi Peninsula with views across Brisbane Water.
The living, kitchen and dining space opens onto a balcony at the modern-style home built on Pretty Beach water’s edge.
Sales at Pretty Beach have ranged from $981,000 to $2.8m last year, with prices once hitting $3.7m, according to PropTrack.

Massive property payday
Back in 2021, Hadley enjoyed a massive property payday when he sold his longtime Dural home for $7.6 million.
The undisputed king of morning radio had lived at the Dural estate since the mid-1990s.
Hadley had Denton Homes build the main five-bedroom, 1115 sqm homestead, which is surrounded by gardens designed by Rolling Stone Landscapes, in 2006.
CoreLogic records revealed the build was valued at $1.1 million. The land on which the home is situated would have been valued at around a similar sum when Hadley bought it.
Taking into account other updates on the property, Hadley had an impressive profit of around $5 million on the sale of the estate.
The residence features two swimming pools, one with a water feature, as well as parking for 10 vehicles, four in the garage and six in the car barn.
Hadley previously told The Daily Telegraph that the property “deserved to have a family living there” after his children have left the nest.
