Well according to a new survey it does and it could be worth as much as five per cent more.
Using the current median house price of the combined capital cities of $550,000 that could equate to an extra $27,500 in your pocket.
A survey by LJ Hooker of its top sales agents found more than half believed styling could improve a home’s sale price by up to 5 per cent.
Almost all of them thought styling increased the sale price and that it helped achieve a quicker sale.
About 88 per cent reckon it brings more offers in the door or more bidders on auction day.
LJ Hooker Queensland state manager Paul Moore reckons the biggest mistakes sellers make is not cleaning up properly when they are trying to sell.
He said cluttered kitchen benches and pet bowls and accessories laying around inside were things buyers noticed.
And just as unwanted nasty smells were also a big no, no, freshly brewed coffee and baked break also won’t help, he reckons.
“Our best agents believe distinct smells can have the opposite effect in securing a sale: putting out fresh flowers, baked bread or freshly brewed coffee won’t find the right buyer.”
