NRL star couple Darius and Kayla Boyd’s latest home sold after first open day

Former NRL star Darius Boyd and his wife Kayla built the nation’s most-viewed home for sale – and it sold after just one open day for a very tidy sum.

Former Brisbane Broncos captain Darius Boyd and his wife Kayla have sold a luxury modern home they built in inner-north Brisbane for $4.55m after only one open-house inspection.

PropTrack’s latest property preview report showed the house at 48 Cheviot Street, Grange was the most-viewed residential listing on realestate.com.au last week, reaching around 13,000 clicks by Monday July 15.

Ex-NRL player Darius Boyd and his wife Kayla sold their Grange residence for $4.55 million.

The build was completed in late 2023 and features five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a marble-furnished aesthetic.

198 people walked through the house on its first open home day, where the Boyds negotiated an offer from an interested party.

The purchase was soon finalised, and the property that would have gone to auction on August 3 was sold weeks before bidding would have begun.

This is the third home in Brisbane the couple have sold since Boyd left the NRL in 2020.

After buying the 969 sqm parcel for $1.6 million, the home has now sold for $2.95 million more than when the land was bought.
The suburb median property price is $2.3875 million, making the house nearly $2.2 million over the median.

The sale was conducted by real estate agency Place Ascot.

Agent Drew Davies said he was not surprised by how popular the property was, and how quickly it had sold.

“I knew it was going to get a lot of interest,” he said. “[The Boyds] know exactly what the market’s looking for.”

“No expense has been spared to create a functional space blending luxury and timeless style, and given its location in a quiet cul-de-sac this is undoubtedly one of the finest family homes to come to market in the area this year.”

The home was described by PropTrack as “a perfect blend of luxury and timeless aesthetic”.

This is the third property the Boyds have built in Brisbane since Darius Boyd left the NRL in 2020, after 15 years playing as a footballer. Ms Boyd led the style and design of each of these housing projects, with the Grange home inspired from Mediterranean and modern farmhouse styles.

The couple are now expecting a fourth child, and the first boy in their family after having three daughters.
