A Torquay developer is planning to build several townhouses after Barwon Health sold a residential property behind its community health centre.
The regional health network sold the property at 39 Puebla St, Torquay for $1.2 million.

“It had been something that we had been trying to work on for some time,” Mr Carson said.
“It had two houses on it and had a lot of inquiry on it but just the way the market was, there hasn’t anyone really looking to do some development.
“I’ve had a local gentleman here who is a good client of ours who lives in the old Torquay who has been looking at it for quite some time and he’s recently purchased it.”
The property contains two three-bedroom brick veneer houses walking distance to Fishos Beach and close to shops on Surf Coast Highway and Gilbert St.
Mr Carson said the buyer is probably going to built three single-storey townhouses on the site.
Mr Carson said Barwon Health had previously distributed food from the property and had also leased it out, but more recently had used the rear area as a car park for the neighbouring Torquay Community Health Centre.
He said the townhouses would be well received in the market.
“They will go really well there, especially if he does them properly which I know he will,” Mr Carson said.
“They will appeal to anyone looking to downsize, get a holiday home or an investment in Puebla St — they won’t last long once they are constructed.”
