Toorak house price record: Benchmark smashed by $40m-plus sale of wealthy Healey family home
The buyer of Toorak’s most expensive home has been revealed as Chemist Warehouse boss Sam Gance, partner of Real Housewives of Melbourne star Janet Roach.
Chemist Warehouse boss Sam Gance has been revealed as the buyer of a $43m luxury mansion that has obliterated Toorak’s residential price record.
International businessman Mark Healey and wife Kelly offloaded the impressive 47 Lansell Rd property – featuring seven living areas, three kitchens, a teppanyaki grill and an on-site wellness retreat – at the top of their $40m-$44m asking price after listing it in July.
Mr Healey is the son of British billionaire Eddie Healey.

Speaking to the Herald Sun earlier this week, Marshall White director Marcus Chiminello confirmed the sale but was tight lipped about the price and the buyer’s details.
Industry sources have since confirmed the lavish abode was snapped up for about $43m by Mr Gance, the partner of Real Housewives of Melbourne star Janet Roach.
It is believed to be Melbourne’s highest value residential auction sale to date.
The listing was jointly held by Marshall White and Kay & Burton, with Kay & Burton’s Michael Gibson taking Mr Gance through to inspect five times before the hammer fell.
Two local buyers competed for the keys after a lucrative offer was made.
The five-bedroom abode boasts a resort-style pool, a cinema, a gym, a tennis court and occupies a huge 3330sq m block.
The Healeys’ property comfortably toppled Toorak’s highest reported house sale: Kogan.com founder Ruslan Kogan’s $38.8m purchase of a 2600sq m property in 2018, according to CoreLogic records.
It also achieved one of the biggest prices ever paid for a Melbourne residence, surpassing former Australia Post boss Ahmed Fahour’s $40.5m sale of Hawthorn mansion Invergowrie in July.
It also trumped several major Toorak transactions from 2021, including digital entrepreneur Guy King’s $32m sale of his spectacular 61-63 Grange Rd estate, Live Nation Australasia Michael Coppell’s $30m-plus deal for his 60 Hopetoun Rd home, and the $20m-plus sale of a Chastleton Ave Italianate mansion that once belonged to Gold Logie winner Steve Vizard.
Malvern’s Stonnington Mansion set metropolitan Melbourne’s residential price benchmark at $52.5m in 2018.
New Ray White data shows Australia is on track to record more sales above $10m than ever this year.
In Toorak, 34 transactions have exceeded that figure in 2021, while ritzy Sydney locales Mosman and Vaucluse topped the national list with 56 and 36 respectively.
