Pop superstar Tones and I has quietly sold one of her Mt Eliza properties for more than $6m million.

The Dance Monkey and Fly Away singer – who also goes by Toni Watson – paid $5.1m for the five-bedroom house with a pool and its own wellness centre at 45 Canadian Bay Rd last year.

She has now sold the sprawling 2738sq m property off-market to a Mornington Peninsula family.

Morrell and Koren buyer’s advocate Matt Cleverdon, who represented the purchasers, declined to comment on any details of the deal other than to say: “It’s a beautiful house and our clients are happy”.

Selling agent Dean Phillips, a director at McEwing & Partners, also remained tight-lipped but confirmed a sale had taken place on the prestigious street.

Tones and I – who grew up in nearby Mt Martha – also splashed $7.08m on another Mt Eliza abode in February. This was a savvy purchase, given the property was initially listed for $8m-$8.8m in 2020.

It offered a dazzling basement lounge with a 3000-bottle cellar and an aquarium-like window into the pool, a marble kitchen with a $150,000 oven, a billiards room with a New York-style bar, and coastal and city views.

The five-bedroom, five-bathroom house is walking distance from the one Tones and I just sold at No. 45, which builder Davies Henderson said was “the first residence in Victoria to be designed to the German Passivhaus criteria”.

This made it “about two-and-a-half times more energy efficient than current best practice” when it was built about seven years ago.

It features a wellbeing centre with a steam room, a sauna, a pilates studio and two treatment rooms, plus two kitchens, edible gardens, and a heated, self-cleaning pool.

A former busker who lived out of her van in Byron Bay before hitting the big time, Tones and I has collected an extensive property portfolio in Melbourne and interstate.

Her other purchases have included two modest Frankston houses, worth $720,000 and about $800,000, and a $3.3m Byron Bay retreat.

The singer-songwriter released debut album Welcome to the Madhouse in July.
