The Block 2019: Behind the scenes of the drama filled meeting
Are producers pushing contestants to create drama and controversy on The Block? A carpenter working on the show reveals the truth behind last night’s fiery body corporate meeting.
The first body corporate meeting between the contestants on The Block was filled with drama with one contestant getting fired up about always being behind.
But is this drama created by producers or is it real?
Mitch and Mark’s Hipages builder Jason Charles, of Charles Bro Building Contractors, said it was 100 per cent real.
“How it comes across on TV is exactly right, it is not made up,” Mr Charles said.

St Kilda real estate agent Jesse complained at the meeting that Keith and Dan’s builders started at house one (Mitch and Mark’s) every week and they were always last, putting them behind.
This went down like a lead balloon with Mitch and Mark, who defended themselves, when they could get a word in with Jesse continuing to talk over the top of them.
Mark said Jesse assumed that because house one was going so well it was because they were getting the work done first but that was not true.
And Mitch added in: “Take your place and shut your mouth when it’s time to shut your mouth”.
It provided a lot of entertainment for the other contestants with Tess saying, “I loved our body corporate meeting, I’ve been waiting for something to happen, don’t take on the dads”.
When asked if Jesse was just putting on a show for the producers, Mr Charles laughed and said “No, that is just Jesse”.
“He tried to make it look like we got everything done first but week one he got his windows in first and we were waiting,” he said.
“We jump in and help the builders get it done, you make do with what you get.”
Mr Charles hinted this would not be the last time a contestant gets fired up by the order of works, with more drama to come in future weeks.

Meanwhile, the fallout from Mitch and Mark’s room win for the main bedroom (that they changed to an entertainment room), when they didn’t have a bed in the room, got a lot of the other contestants thinking.
Mr Charles said all the other contestants now wanted to make changes as well.
“We kept copping it off Keith and Dan, they would be like ‘not more changes’,” he said.
