The Block 2018: Episode 11 recap and a trip to Bendigo
WHEN Keith — the bloke employed to create drama on The Block — can’t get a reaction from the teams Scotty steps in to stir the pot and evicts all the contestants from the site.
IT’S week three on The Block and foreman Keith and his sidekick Dan have clearly got their cranky pants on.
But not all the couples are biting when Keith goes fishing to start a feud.
He begins by trying to bait loveable Queensland duo Jess and Norm — asking them whether they’ve ever been to a penthouse before and saying their efforts on The Block might not be lux enough.
“We stayed in one once, but it was a big night so we can’t remember what was in it,” Jess quickly replies.
Laughing and giving him a hug.
So he heads next door to Carla and Bianca’s penthouse and orders all their trades to stop work. Something about pre-start daily paperwork. Snore.
The netballers arrive on scene and hand the completed papers over pronto, and he misses out on a big reaction again.
“It’s a bit frosty between us now,” Bianca says, before calling Keith a “drama queen”.
Firing at zero from two, Keith pulls in his mate Dan and they head to Hans and Courtney’s room with the hope of creating some drama there.
The Western Australians have had their power and water turned off, and their winning bathroom torn apart, while Jess and Norm’s builders get into the ceiling space to fit out the plumbing for their ensuite above.
Everyone watching thinks ‘why wasn’t this done earlier?’ but we wait to see what happens.
“They’re taking you for a ride at the moment,” Keith and Dan tell Hans.
“You can’t live in this unit for the moment until this is finished.”
Apparently each apartment must have a functioning bathroom to enable the Blockheads to live on site.
“Man up and go and face them,” Keith and Dan gee Hans up.
Keith and Hans finally get Norm down to check it out, and Keith tells Norm: “You’re taking the piss.”
Norm promises it will get done that day.
Crisis averted. Until, Scotty walks in.
“That deal has now rendered our current occupation certificate invalid and Hans and Courtney can’t stay at the Block until it’s fixed,” he says.
So, they’re all off to Bendigo.
No one is impressed, except maybe Jess.
“I’ve kissed many a bloke in Bendigo,” she gushes.
And then, it’s challenge time. They’re doing it for homeless kids charity, Kids Under Cover.
That pretty much pans out the same as every other challenge: Hayden and Sara fight, Keith phones the contestants to complain about stuff back on the Block, everyone rushes to finish, and the winner? We’ll find out tomorrow.
SNEAK PEEK
We got our first peek at Sara and Hayden’s secret weapon — the brass bath.
“This is the baby,” Sara announces. “This is why we picked the apartment we did.
“We’ve blown the budget for the bathroom. We’re going to be broke after this.
“I can’t wait for it to unravel under the judges eyes and for them to be like ‘holy moley these guys are actually serious’.
“If we don’t win I’m throwing my mike down and I’m walking out.
“We’re leaving the show (if it’s not the most talked about bathroom ever, in a good way).”
She goes on to describe it as “bath gold”, and tells everyone “you have to wear gloves to touch this bath”.
That might not pass the functionality test, we’re left thinking at home, but we let it slide because she’s about to show Keith the bath.
His reaction, not good.
“I don’t even know what to say,” Keith says, before grunting “yuck” on the way out the door.
