A young couple from Sydney can now officially call Geelong home after winning the keys to a renovated brick veneer house at Thomson.
The pair, who have been renting in Geelong for the past two years after moving from Sydney, fought off a determined under bidder and paid $425,000 for the three-bedroom house at 3 Kahle Crt.

And, they weren’t going to let this one slip away – it took just six seconds to place their first bid of $405,000 after Ray White, Geelong agent and auctioneer Laurie McGovern opened proceedings.
“This is the seventh or eighth house we’ve offered on … we’re so happy,” the buyer said.
“In Geelong, you have $400,000 houses two kilometres out of the city and 15 minutes down the road to the beach … if you’ve been in Sydney, you still can’t comprehend how the prices are so cheap down here.”
The three-bedroom home has a renovated kitchen and bathroom and is within walking distance to schools, shops and the Geelong CBD.
Mr McGovan said a mix of first-time buyers and investors were keen on the house with ducted heating, split-system airconditioning and an outdoor entertainment area.
“It’s a really solid little house on a big block in a neat court of an up-and-coming area,” Mr McGovan said.
The property was listed with price hopes from $375,000 to $405,000.
CoreLogic records show it last sold for $330,000 in March 2014.
