Stunning private waterfall makes splash on Great Ocean Road
The 20m-high Urquhart Falls is the centrepiece of an incredible front row farmlet selling with panoramic ocean views over nearby Apollo Bay.
You don’t have to venture beyond the boundary to go chasing waterfalls at a Great Ocean Road property with its own spectacular private cascade.
Most people only ever get to experience the beauty of the 20m-high Urquhart’s Falls from the roadside down below.
But the lucky new owners of 6090 Great Ocean Road, Apollo Bay, will enjoy a different up-close perspective of the landmark, as well as breathtaking panoramic ocean views.

The long-time owners are selling the 32ha farmlet, where they’ve converted a 1930s dairy into a rustic home.
Charles Stewart, Colac agent Josh Lamanna is handling the expression of interest campaign, with the price expected to land between $3.7m and $4m.
He said the listing had already generated strong interest from buyers seeking a lifestyle property with remarkable natural assets.
“Being that type of acreage right on the Great Ocean Road, you get 100 per cent uninterrupted views of the ocean and it doesn’t matter where you are on that property you will have views of the ocean all the way through to Apollo Bay,” Mr Lamanna said.
“The land itself has always been used as a little bit of a hybrid, you have got some beef and sheep, but predominantly it’s been a lifestyle property for the family that’s had it for quite some time.
“It’s a beautiful property and with Urquhart’s Fall I don’t think I’ve ever seen another property with something so spectacular on private land.”
The waterfall, between Skenes Creek and Apollo Bay, has long been a tourist attraction, with a guesthouse at one point operating nearby.
It feeds the permanent Stony Creek that runs through the undulating property.
“When I was a kid we were always going to Apollo Bay for football and you’d all get to that stage and look up to see how much rain Apollo Bay had had and judge the mud by hard how the waterfall was running,” Mr Lamanna said.
“When I was a kid it looked like it was 300m high but it is 20m, which is pretty high.”
With existing rights, he anticipates a new dwelling could be build at the farm, subject to council approval.
The current two-bedroom residence is sited to take views all the way to Apollo Bay harbour.
It has a French farmhouse feel, with a wood heater warming the open-plan living area and adjoining kitchen.
There’s one bedroom, a bathroom and mudroom/laundry on the ground floor, with an large attic style space upstairs providing extra sleeping quarters.
Other features of the property include machinery and shearing sheds, two well-maintained dams, a 100-capacity sheep yard and a Metalcorp cattle yard with a race and crush.
Expressions of interest close on November 4 at 2pm.
