Shane Warne: Cricket legend lists Brighton home with basement bar
Shane Warne is bowling his lavish Brighton home onto the market — and the spin king’s added the ultimate VIP section to the basement of the house that was once owned by Matthew Lloyd.
Shane Warne is looking to bowl Melbourne’s auction market over.
The cricket legend will put his 15 Newbay Cres, Brighton home under the hammer with a $6.8-$7.4 million asking price on April 4.
Photos of the home show the spin king is on a seriously good wicket, following a bit of an upgrade since it was home to Essendon Football Club great Matthew Lloyd.

A nightclub style basement now includes a wine-cellar and tasting room, as well as a gold class home theatre with a full wet bar.
The backyard spa and pool includes a waterfall feature, and the five-bedroom and bathroom house even has voice control automation features.
Warne is selling the home ahead of plans to move into a luxury apartment at the Saint Moritz development in St Kilda, where it’s believed he will have football and media personality Sam Newman as one of his neighbours.
Lloyd owned the house from 2006-2015, with Warne buying it from private investigator Anthony Thompson in 2018.
CoreLogic records show Warne paid $5.4 million for the house.
A long history in Brighton has included home sales of $18,888,888 for his one-time home at 32 Middle Cres and $10.85 million for the Italianate mansion he shared with actor Elizabeth Hurley.
How Shane Warne joined the ranks of Australia’s successful renovators
Earlier this year Warne auctioned his baggy green, the cap he wore through 145 cricket test matches, to raise a whopping $1,007,500 in funds for bushfire victims.
Contacted by the Herald Sun, JP Dixon director Jonathan Dixon confirmed the home already had interested parties.
“At the moment things are fairly skinny, but there are people who love it,” Mr Dixon said.
“The market itself is still moving along, there are people out there saying that stocks have gone and they’re getting nothing from the bank, so let’s stick to property.”
He said most of the interested buyers appreciated its proximity to schools and Brighton’s popular Church St and Bay St shops.

“It’s a terrific home and it’s got some hi-tech features,” Mr Dixon said.
