A resort-style property close to the heart of a coastal hotspot won the eye of discerning buyer.

A resort-style property in a bushland setting close to central Jan Juc has created a turnkey opportunity for local buyers.

The renovated four-bedroom house on a 4000sq m block at 110 Sunset Strip has sold for $1.88 million.

The sale cemented $980,000 increase in value over seven years as a result of the upgrades done by the owners.

One Agency, Torquay agent Shaun O’Callaghan said the buyers had been looking long-term for the right property in the coastal town.

“They had a long history of researching and giving considering to plenty of properties in that area,” Mr O’Callaghan said.

But they weren’t the only ones.

Mr O’Callaghan sad seven or eight groups returned for second inspections of the 4000sq m bushland property with a swimming pool, with two groups making offers.

It had been listed with a $1.9 million to $2 million price hopes.

“That’s fairly positive given the nature of the market,” Mr O’Callaghan said.

“Naturally, there are those whose employment income has been affected by what’s happening at the moment but there is plenty of others that have fixed an stable incomes and that made up some of the interest in the property.”

What really drew the crowd was the position, walking distance from the middle of Jan Juc.

“Given the proximity, to walk out from out the driveway with the pram and go for a walk, you didn’t have to get in a car as you do with a lot of acreage properties,” he said.

“The owners have done a significant amount of upgrades to the property as well, so essentially it was turnkey and all the hard work had been taken care of.”

The property last sold in 2013 for $900,000, before the owners embarked on their renovations.

Design features included polished concrete floors, high raked ceilings, barn doors and floor to ceiling windows.

Multiple outside entertainment areas included the north-facing heated in-ground swimming pool and spa, plus a backyard deck area with open outdoor fireplace.

The property also held a studio, a cabin with a separate bedroom and bathroom; a double garage with work area plus an additional garage with adjoining carport.

Substantial living rooms featured on both levels on the home, plus a rumpus room overlooking the pool area.

The renovated kitchen held a double St George oven and a walk-in pantry.
