A striking renovation bringing a poolside party in to the back of an old Californian bungalow has found a buyer after a late rush of interest.
A striking renovation that brings a poolside party to the back of an old Californian bungalow has found a buyer after a late rush of interest in the property.
The once tired weatherboard residence at 21 Huntingdon St, Newtown, proved the perfect canvas for the owners to create a luxury home near Pakington St.
The house was snapped up recently for just short of $2.1m.

Whitford Newtown agent John Moran said a young local family had snapped up the four-bedroom house.
“We ended up getting multiple offers on it in the end,” Mr Moran said.
“It was all renovated and extended and was one of the best entertaining areas I’ve seen.”
The property first hit the market with $2.3m to $2.5m price hopes. Price expectations were lowered as the campaign continued.
“It was a bit of a slow start, but the market is patchy and then towards the end they all started coming for it,” Mr Moran said.
The owners paid $636,000 for the original two-bedroom house in 2016.
The stylish semi-enclosed poolside space, with timber lined ceilings, exposed brick, a roaring fireplace and outdoor kitchen, is key to the renovation.
But the owners had lavished the same attention on the original front section of the house, refreshing the weatherboard facade, tessellated tiled porch and immaculate front garden.
Traditional features such as open fireplaces and polished timber floors were retained in the front two bedrooms, with a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite added to one to create a main suite.
The hallway steps down to reveal a central open-plan kitchen, dining and living space where polished concrete floors create a sleek modern finish.
A wall of glass and stacker sliding doors frames views over the pool and central courtyard and connects the main living area to the sunken entertainment zone where a built-in barbecue and fridge complement the well-appointed main kitchen.
The lounge is finished with a raked ceiling allowing for high north-facing windows, built-in cabinetry and a black feature wall with a wall-mounted television.
The natural slope of the block favoured a two-storey rear wing that houses a cellar, storage room and double garage with back lane access on the ground floor.
