Melbourne Renegade Molly Strano is loving life in one of the city’s most diverse communities after purchasing an apartment there off the plan. This is the cricket star’s property journey.
Molly Strano is an Australian cricketer who’s lining up for the Melbourne Renegades in the Women’s Big Bash League, which is being broadcast on Channel 7, Foxtel and Kayo this month
Where do you live?
I live in Footscray.
What do you love most about your home?
I love my neighbourhood and the community. I love living in Footscray. It’s very vibrant,
diverse and so close to the CBD.
Have you changed anything about your home?
No. I live in an apartment, which I purchased off the plan, and it’s only a couple of years old.

One more thing you’d change?
At some point down the track, I want to get a new darker shade of carpet in the bedrooms.
How many homes have you ever lived in?
I lived in two homes with my family and then I rented with a friend for a few years. Now, I
live in my own apartment.
The most memorable?
My second family home. It is a Queen Anne Federation-style home my dad designed. It’s my parents’ dream home, and it is so beautiful and architecturally impressive.
Your first foot on the property ladder?
My current apartment.
Are you a keen or reluctant property buyer?
I was reluctant and very daunted at the prospect at the start. But my dad gave me the push I
needed, which I’m very thankful for now.
How many homes have you ever bought and ever sold?
Just the one.
Highlights of your property journey?
Taking the leap into the property market.

Best property advice you’ve heard?
The best advice came from my dad: “Rent is a complete waste of money, get in the game!”
What are your tips for homebuyers?
I’m very much a rookie in the property game, so my advice would be to research widely and listen to those who have been there and done that before.
What are your future property plans?
I don’t have any real plans for the immediate future. But further down the track, I’d love to live in the Port Melbourne or Middle Park area. If the opportunity arose to purchase in those suburbs, I’d be very interested.
