Mickleham Tuscan-style mansion from film Promised sold
A curious manor on Melbourne’s outskirts has sold for a hefty sum. The worldly pad with French and Vietnamese influences has starred on-screen alongside Tina Arena and in Bollywood flicks.
Mickleham’s movie-star mansion — which featured in Aussie film Promised, as well as several Bollywood flicks — has reeled in a sale.
A couple upsizing from Craigieburn with three young children secured the Tuscan-style residence at 65 Forest Red Gum Drive for $2.55 million, SKAD Real Estate director Dave Singh said.
“They loved the (1.4ha of) land and the Tuscan-themed house design,” Mr Singh said, adding the buyers needed extra space with their parents moving to Melbourne from India.

The sale has flung the property among the outer-northern suburb’s top-selling houses — second only to a five-bedroom pad on 2ha at 230 Mt Ridley Rd, which CoreLogic records show fetched $2.735 million in 2017.
The home’s original Italian-background owner imported materials from Italy to build it about 15 years ago — an authenticity that made it an ideal setting for Promised.
The romantic drama starring Tina Arena and Paul Mercurio was released last year, and followed two Italian children who were promised in marriage by their fathers in Melbourne in the 1970s.
The vendor had spent more than $500,000 transforming the house to also reflect her French and Vietnamese heritage, after purchasing it from the original owner.
The property offered seven bedrooms, two kitchens and multiple living spaces all up across the main house and a separate American-style barn.
Design highlights of the main house include a grand twin staircase, an indoor pool, timber flooring and an American Oak kitchen.
The grounds feature cherry, apricot and lemon trees, and a man-made lake.
Mr Singh said the property had initially been scheduled for auction in December, but that had been postponed. A new auction date was about to be set before the sale was inked.
The agent said about 75 groups inspected the home after it hit the market in November, with a $2.5-$2.7 million price guide.
