Leigh Harry, Jan Cochrane-Harry: CEOs list St Kilda family home
The St Kilda home of a pair of high-powered CEOs is for sale, with gorgeous period detailing, a sub-floor cellar and a backyard spa perfect for “melting away the stresses of corporate life”.
Retired high-powered CEOs Leigh Harry and Jan Cochrane-Harry have listed their elegant St Kilda home of 17 years.
Mr Harry is a former chief executive of Tourism Victoria and the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre, while his wife held the top job at the Queen Victoria Market from 2013-16.
Ms Cochrane-Harry was also previously head of marketing and business development at the University of Melbourne’s Business School and, these days, is chair of the Margaret Lawrence Bequest that funds arts and education charities.

The couple have a $2.5 million asking price for their 1905-built four-bedroom Edwardian at 69 Carlisle St, which CoreLogic records show last changed hands in 2003 for $850,000.
Ms Cochrane-Harry told the Herald Sun the property had been a “wonderful family home” she and her husband had also shared with their adult daughter and granddaughter for the past 12 years.
“Leigh and I both worked in the city in pretty high-stress jobs, so it was great to have such a handy location,” Ms Cochrane-Harry said.
“What I loved abut the place especially was the (backyard) spa — there’s nothing like it to melt away the stresses of corporate life.
“Leigh will miss his terrific cellar where, as well as his wine, he kept his amazing collection of caps from all over the world.”
Being lovers of live music, the couple had also frequented Memo Music Hall on Acland St and Claypots on Barkly St.
Ms Cochrane-Harry said they’d updated parts of the double-storey house over the years, including installing double-glazed windows and wooden shutters, new carpets, a new oven and dishwasher, as well as repainting and replastering.
Now aged in their 70s and retired, they’ve bought what they say will be their final home in Healesville.
Buxton Bentleigh selling agent John Rombotis expected buyers to be drawn to the property’s 376sq m landholding, central location and period flourishes.
Mr Rombotis has also listed a luxury Elwood home linked to a prominent car dealing family.
Simply Finance Australia managing director Adam Lane has $2.3-$2.4 million price hopes for the townhouse at 3/100 Broadway.
Before taking the reins at the car finance broker in 2010, Mr Lane was finance manager for his father Robert Lane’s dealership, Robert Lane Automobiles.
“His father was one of the biggest car dealers in Australia,” Mr Rombotis said.
The agent — who has the listing in conjunction with Chisholm and Gamon’s Sam Gamon — said Mr Lane’s “ultra-modern” pad was built in 2017. CoreLogic records show it changed hands for $2.065 million then.
“It’s a stone’s throw away from the beach, and Glen Huntly Rd is right next door,” Mr Rombotis said.
“It has a very clever design (that ensures) plenty of natural light.”
The four bedrooms and two living spaces are split between the home’s two stories.
Naturally, there’s also a double garage with direct entry to the home.
The property’s expressions of interest campaign closes April 21.
