Lawrence Mooney: Elsternwick ‘dream home’ of comic listed
Lawrence Mooney is selling the Elsternwick house he bought just two years ago. It was his family’s “dream home”, but life there just didn’t work out for the comedian and radio personality.
Comedian Lawrence Mooney has listed his charming Elsternwick home after just two years.
The performer and radio host has put his family’s “dream home” at 16 Elster Ave on the market with $2.4-$2.6 million price hopes.
Mooney told Property Confidential the four-bedroom Edwardian was exactly what he’d been looking for with wife Lou Mooney and daughters Lily and Maggie when they bought it in 2018.

“In a way it was our dream home, because before this property we had always been renting,” Mooney said.
“We had just been so lazy and happy renting for so long … but when our lease ended in Armadale, Lou suggested that we should finally buy.”
The comedian said the family were not “renovation people”, so had their eyes peeled for a house they could enjoy without the need to make any immediate updates.
After inspecting the home, they put in an early offer to seal the deal prior to its scheduled auction.
CoreLogic shows the couple paid $2.5 million.
But the family’s time at the residence was cut short after the comedian landed a job in Brisbane, hosting Triple M radio show Moonman in the Morning alongside Chris Page and Jess Eva.
“(The show) ended up winning the market and I was offered the job in Sydney,” Mooney said.
“We’re renting around Bronte and it’s an amazing city … we’re planning on staying up here.”
Marshall White Port Phillip director Damian O’Sullivan said the charming Elsternwick property, which is for private sale, offered plenty of accommodation and a large garden with an impressive pool.
“It’s not a home where you need to invest more cosmetically … you can just move right in,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
“It’s in a perfect little cul-de-sac right across the road from Gardenvale Park.”
Melbourne-born Mooney, who started his career as a stand-up comic, won Best Entertainment Presenter at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards last year.
The 55-year-old is also a regular on popular TV shows including ABC’s Spicks and Specks and Channel 10’s The Project and Have You Been Paying Attention?
