A brick veneer house in a sought-after position proved hot property for buyers in Belmont on Saturday.

A huge crowd watched seven bidders compete for the three-bedroom house at 100 Apex Ave, which sold under the hammer for $560,000,

The sale smashed the listed price hopes of $440,000 to $460,000.

Alistair Lindeman, supported by parents Carol and Peter, outlasted the competition and will move in, get busy renovating and make the most of the 612sq m of space on offer.

He had a secret weapon in dad Peter, a real estate agent for RT Edgar, who was more than ready to help out in the bidding battle.

He said buyers were drawn to the location close to the best of Highton and Belmont, the potential and value long-term.

“It needs a bit of work but it’s such a good spot down at the Highton end of Belmont as I call it,” Mr Rounds said.

“It was a good result … you just don’t know what’s going to happen but the market has really bounced back.”

CoreLogic records show the house last traded in November 2012 for $350,000.
