Renters will fall at their feet to live at an Ormond property once owned by Crowded House bassist Nick Seymour.

The Spanish Mission-style home at 406 North Rd is for lease for $649 a week after being recently snapped up by an investor for an undisclosed price. It’s understood the property sold for slightly less than $1.3 million.

It was the first time the house changed hands since Seymour sold it in 1993, just after the band released its fourth album Together Alone.

McKinnon Real Estate director Eric Cohen said previous owners were told by the musician that the band regularly visited the house.

“They used to write songs around the pool and jump off the deck into the water before there was fencing,” Mr Cohen said.

“But he didn’t own it for very long and it seems they actually lost some money on the house.”

CoreLogic records show Seymour bought the property for $246,000 in October 1992, before selling it for $225,000 about a year later. It’s understood the musician divorced Brenda Bentleigh in the same year he sold up.

The bassist was also known as the creative mind behind the band’s costumes, stage sets and album cover art. He’s also well-connected to his brother Mark Seymour, frontman of Hunters & Collectors.

Crowded House became ARIA Hall of Fame inductees after they retired the band in 1996. They have continued to make guest appearances around the world.

Prospective renters were excited by the idea of living in a home with a connection to music history, Mr Cohen added.

He had eight groups inspect the character three-bedroom property privately on ANZAC Day weekend.
