Coronavirus: New ability to work from home cements Highton sale
The global pandemic prompted a Melbourne family to swoop on a high-end property, confident they’ll be able to work from home more going forward.
A NEW-found flexibility to work from home discovered during the COVID-19 pandemic encouraged a Melbourne family seeking a lifestyle change to swoop on a high-end Highton house.
The current crisis proved the perfect catalyst for the buyers to act fast and put in an offer on the four-bedroom house at 3 Meadow Court.
They paid $1.225 million for the modern, two-storey design, which came with all the furniture thrown in.

How buyers are adapting to strict COVID-19 rules
Hayeswinckle agent Tiffany Simpson said the property went under offer after the first open home — held just days before agents were forced to switch to private inspections.
Ms Simpson said the COVID-19 pandemic had cemented the buyers’ decision to relocate to Geelong.
“My buyers live in Melbourne and due to the way society is at the moment they just decided we are going to make a complete lifestyle change,” she said.
“Having the ability to work from home, and they could see that going on for a while, they thought they could commute to Melbourne minimally as required and they have also made the choice to send their son to a top local school.
“I think they were contemplating that change of lifestyle and after COVID-19 it really cemented their decision to move.
“They obviously were looking for a high-end property … and they just jumped right in.”
The 1321sq m property was listed in mid-March with a price guide of $1.25 million to $1.375 million.
The house offers multiple living area, including a home theatre and designer kitchen with three ovens and a built-in coffee machine to sate caffeine cravings while working from home.
A private study nook is part of the main bedroom suite, which also has a large ensuite with a freestanding bath taking in views.
Ms Simpson said 11 parties inspected the house at a time of great uncertainty and the interest was encouraging for the market.
She said one of the positives for vendors in the current climate was that buyers who organised private inspections were genuine.
