This contemporary Clifton Hill house was purpose built for family living five years ago — but its clever layout is arguably as enticing as ever amid the coronavirus lockdown.

The four-bedroom house on the market for $3.975 million features a private upstairs retreat for parents to escape to while “the kids can go crazy downstairs”.

And 429 Wellington St even has an office boasting city skyline views that’s sure to appeal to the work-from-home crowd, or serve as a makeshift classroom for remote learning.

Nelson Alexander Fitzroy selling agent Roland Paterson said the parents’ retreat featured a bedroom, ensuite, walk-in wardrobe, living space and a north-facing rooftop deck that “captures the winter sun”.

The residence also has a west-facing balcony, and an alfresco courtyard looking out to a “tropical oasis” backyard with a pool and lush landscaped gardens.

There are two further living zones downstairs: a rumpus room and an open-plan living and dining area adjoined by a kitchen.

The high-end build also boasts a six-star energy rating, featuring double-glazed windows and doors plus hydronic floor heating.

Mr Paterson said several buyers had already inspected the property, which was in the sought-after Clifton St Primary School catchment zone.

“It’s in a heritage overlay area, so there are very few contemporary homes,” he said.

“Because the vendors started from scratch, it’s quite a practical home that’s zoned for family living.”
