Chance to purchase three doors down from the beach seals deal in Torquay
A chance to purchase three doors down from the beach sealed the deal for the buyers of a Torquay house that sold after auction.
THE appeal of living just three houses back from the beach has seen a waterfront Torquay property traded for $1 million.
Several buyers were circling in the crowd as the two-storey house at 7 Darian Rd was auctioned on Saturday.
Fruit Property, Geelong West agent Len Lengyel said the three-bedroom house was passed in but sold soon after during private negotiations.

The $1 million sale price was in the middle of the $975,000 to $1.025 million asking range.
“The property passed in but we had several buyers and we were able to negotiate with one of the buyers,” Mr Lengyel said.
He said the prime location of the 455sq m corner block attracted a wide range of buyers, from investors to people seeking a permanent seaside home where they could throw a towel over their shoulder and walk to the beach.
There is scope to improve the “vintage” interior of the house, which offers an open-plan living and two bedrooms on the ground floor and a second loungeroom and main bedroom suite upstairs.
Unrenovated properties near Torquay’s waterfront are in hot demand, with an original beach house at 4 Bell St attracting a record price at auction late last month.
The two-storey house sold for $1.7 million, setting the highest price per square metre for an renovated property off the town’s main waterfront street.
Seven bidders contested that 736sq m property, which beat initial price hopes by more than $350,000.
