Carlton reserves coach Daniel O’Keefe selling Geelong home
The coach of Carlton’s new stand-alone reserves team has put his family’s first home on the market at Armstrong Creek.
The coach of Carlton’s new stand-alone reserves team has put his first home at Armstrong Creek on the market.
Daniel O’Keefe, who masterminded the Geelong Falcons 2017 NAB League premiership before becoming an assistant coach to the Geelong Cats VFL side, has listed his family’s first home at Mandalay Avenue.
The three-bedroom Metricon house is walking distance to Armstrong Creek’s schools and The Village shopping centre.

It has two living areas and home office with a covered patio in the landscaped backyard, which has synthetic turf include a putting green.
“My wife and I bought the block out there about seven years ago and I guess as a first-home owner we wanted to get out there, it was based about affordability but to have that nice, close-knit community as well,” he said.
“We moved out there at a time when we had no supermarket at all, there was no schools, no kindergartens or anything.
“At that time we had a little boy and he was in daycare in Torquay because it was one of the closest ones.
“Certainly since our time there, what’s been built around Warralily in Armstrong Creek has just been enormous and we’ve loved every bit of it.”
“We’ve been three or four years longer than we thought we would and that’s just off the ‘comfortability’ of the area and seeing everything get built up.
“We’re on the same block as the school that's opened this year and walking distance from the supermarket and fish and chips and cafes, so the longer we’ve stayed there the more we’ve really enjoyed it.”
Buxton, Highton agent Tony Moorfoot has the listing.
O’Keefe said they’re building a new house at nearby Anchorage estate.
“From an investment point of view its been wonderful,” he said.
“It’s really close to nothing but it’s in between everything. We’re talking 8 to 10 minutes to Barwon Heads, to Torquay and into town, so it’s smack, bang in the middle.”
O’Keefe was recruited by the Blues in 2020 as a development coach but this week kicked off a new gig as coach of Carlton’s first stand-alone reserves team in 20 years.
“It’s really exciting,” he said.
“At Carlton footy club we haven’t had our own reserves team called Carlton Blues and wearing the same jumper for 19 years.
“So the opportunity with this whole new competition playing across three states with 22 clubs is an exciting prospect for our club and where we’re at with our progression.
“We feel like we’re trending in the right direction as a football club and part of that is having a really successful second tier program which I’ve been very lucky and grateful to lead next year.”
