Campbell Point House: Families interested in $22M Bellarine estate

It’s where Joel Selwood proposed, Bec Judd’s hosted a baby shower, it’s got a helipad, cigar room, infinity pool — the lavish Campbell Point House might become the ultimate holiday home.

A glamorous private estate on the shore of Lake Connewarre that’s served as a wedding venue and hotel to the stars might become a private home.

Campbell Point House, on Leopold’s northern shore of Lake Connewarre, on the Bellarine Peninsula, has been listed for sale with $20-$22 million price hopes.

Christie’s International listing agent Sean Cussell said while it was operating as a private hotel, Campbell Point House was originally built as a private home, which was where early interest in the 15ha property was.

The estate has a glittering list of famous past guests, including television show MasterChef filming an episode with guest chef Marco Pierre White.

It’s where Geelong Cats skipper Joel Selwood proposed to wife Brit Davis; Rebecca Judd has also hosted a baby shower at the exclusive venue.

Superstar singers Justin Bieber and Adele were rumoured to have booked a night, only to be unable to land a helicopter.

“Campbell Point House may ultimately appeal to a private hotel operator, given the hard work has been done in planning and building such a rare property,” Mr Cussell said.

“It has enormous potential to capitalise even further on the luxury wedding market, being so close to Melbourne.

“We have already received interest from families looking for a large holiday retreat with direct access to the lake and the beach.”

Mr Cussell said he was also expecting interest from overseas buyers for the private estate that was “beyond compare”.

The stately private manor inspired by a French chateau was built in 2008 by Aaron Parkhill, a nephew of billionaire businessman Frank Lowy, and his wife Meg Blackhall.

It’s operated as a wedding venue since 2011 and a boutique hotel since late 2018, also gaining permission for a helipad, cutting travel time from Melbourne to 15 minutes for those who can afford it.

Chef Tobin Kent is also serving eight-course degustations at the mansion after its restaurant opened to the public in 2019.

The secluded estate has a capacity for 30 guests, with a current application to increase it to 40.

The venue was the scene of an ugly fracas following a wedding just a few weeks ago with mobile phone footage emerging of a man punching the windscreen of a moving Mercedes van, smashing it, while another vehicle had its tyres slashed; police were called to investigate.
