Brunswick West transformation blends industrial, rustic, modern
This home went from a tired weatherboard to an on-trend haven blending rustic, industrial and contemporary. The owners wanted it to feel like a Brunswick cafe or pub. See the before and afters.
A whole lot of love has been put into the transformation of this beautiful Brunswick West house.
Once a tired 1920s weatherboard, the property at 67 Shamrock St is now a trendy haven that blends rustic, industrial and contemporary styles.
The light-blue period facade is definitely an eye-catcher, as is the artistic and colourful fence. Inside, the eclectic interiors provide a visual feast.

Recycled timber is used underfoot and in the kitchen and bathroom benchtops.
Funky pendant lighting, numerous windows, high ceilings and a stylish woodfire heater are other standout features of the home.
It’s on the market with a $1.65-$1.8 million price guide through Duncan McPherson of Nelson Alexander Brunswick.
Owners Rachael and Tim purchased the property for their family in 2013 after renting in the same street.
“My wife is a little superstitious and she had a dream about a swing in a tree,” Tim said. “We saw the house was open for inspection and there was a swing in the tree and we thought ‘bam, we have to have it’.”
After living in the house for a while, they enlisted Peter Apostoli from Armadillo Homes to start the year-long transformation.
“We wanted it to feel like a Brunswick cafe or pub, partly industrial warehouse style,” Tim said.
“There are big trees in the backyard and lots of birds. It’s got the feeling of a retreat but is only 8km from the CBD.”
The family is selling to move closer to relatives on the NSW north coast.
“We might have to do another project,” Tim said. “We have very specific ideas and don’t want a normal cookie-cutter house, as you can see from our home.
“We are leaving reluctantly, but hopefully someone with family around can enjoy it.”
