Brendan McCartney: ex-Western Bulldogs coach lists in Barwon Heads
Brendan McCartney, who coached the Western Bulldogs for three seasons after helping the Cats make history, is aiming to collar a buyer for his modern house just blocks from the Barwon River.
Former Western Bulldogs head coach Brendan McCartney is selling up in Barwon Heads.
McCartney — who led the Bulldogs for three seasons from 2012, after taking the reins from Rodney Eade — and his wife have $2.9-$3.15 million price hopes for the modern five-bedroom house with a pool.
Listing agent Christian Bartley of Bellarine Property declined to comment when contacted by the Herald Sun.
But the agency is marketing the 2011-built residence as a “creative two-storey coastal home with family living and entertaining front of mind”.

The marketing also features comments from the owner, stating: “Being here makes you feel like you’re worlds away from the hustle and bustle.
“We love entertaining by the pool in summer, or in winter, with the outdoor fire blazing.”
The 18m salt-chlorinated and self-cleaning pool is flanked by decking and a paved undercover barbecue terrace with a fireplace.
The 809sq m block also features a mature garden and a separate bungalow containing a gym and guest quarters with an ensuite, in addition to the main house.
Multiple living spaces make up the residence’s ground floor, including a dedicated movie and games rooms, a home office, and an open-plan living, kitchen and dining area.
The latter features eye-catching light pendants, Blackbutt timber flooring and a wood-burning fireplace, while the kitchen has Caesarstone benchtops, double Neff wall ovens, a Miele cooktop and dishwasher, and a butler’s pantry.
The bedrooms are split between the two levels, with the standout being the downstairs main offering a walk-in wardrobe, ensuite and direct access to the pool area.
The home is walking distance from Barwon River, shops, eateries and beaches.
McCartney lined up for Newtown & Chilwell in the Geelong Football League in his playing days, and joined the Melbourne Football Club coaching staff under Paul Roos following his stint with the Bulldogs.
He was an assistant coach at Geelong when the team won its drought-breaking AFL premiership in 2007 and its second in three years in 2009.
The Geelong Advertiser has previously reported that the 59-year-old had been appointed coach of the Geelong Falcons girls team for the 2020 season, and that he and his company, Player Coach, had also signed on to work GFL club Bell Park this year.
But Geelong footy leagues have been suspended due to coronavirus.
