An eye-catching architectural beach house that channels art gallery vibes in a spectacular coastal setting has hit the market in Anglesea.
Award-winning Surf Coast architect David Seeley designed the angular six-bedroom ‘East View House’ using a dramatic mix of concrete, timber, stone and glass.
It frames uninterrupted ocean views across Anglesea to Point Addis from its private perch just across the road from the Anglesea Surf Lifesaving Club.

The vendors commissioned the lavish knockdown rebuild project for their family of five after purchasing an older house at 35A Harvey St, Anglesea, sight unseen.
She said they trusted Seeley to design something special on the 1822sq m site.
The architect was allowed to incorporate just one of his signature curves into the two-storey house and the resulting spiral staircase is a showstopper that acts as a sculptural centrepiece in its double height gallery space.
The vendor said the window between the main living room and swimming pool was another fun feature, with everyone wanting an underwater photo.
“We wanted spaces that felt connected to the surroundings – the gardens, the views to Anglesea and Point Addis, the heathland,” she said.
“The best part about a beach house is entertaining friends and family, so we the pool and spa on the upper decks as part of the outdoor dining area, to bring people together.”
The angular terrace adds a touch of drama to the house, but the vendors wanted to ensure the modern design wasn’t cold and unwelcoming.
Behind the handmade copper front door, natural materials including Castlemaine stone walls, internal brush box timber cladding and doors, terrazzo flooring featuring Western Australia shell grit and custom plywood cabinetry create a softer finish.
Every room has floor-to-ceiling windows with a garden or cliff view, from the vast main living area, to the main bedroom suite, glass-enclosed games room and the downstairs bunkroom overlooking a fernery.
“I love being in the living room as the sun sets – it faces east and you get that beautiful coastal afterglow over Point Addis,” the vendor said.
She said the attention to detail, from handmade bathroom mirrors, to copper handrails and hidden doors, was so impressive.
The kitchen features zinc benchtops, a Falcon dual-fuel oven, Zip hydro tap and recycled blackbutt cabinets.
Outside, there’s a double carport with an EV charger and Carlo Gabriele-designed gardens incorporating an outdoor shower.
“We designed the house for an active family, so there’s plenty of storage for all the beach and bike gear,” the vendor said.
“The convenience of walking to the beach means everyone can come and go as they please. You don’t really need to make any plans or be ready by a certain time, it really is a holiday when you come down here.”
Great Ocean Road Real Estate, Anglesea agent Paula Fowler is handing the expressions of interest campaign for the property, which has a $7m price guide.
She said the house was a “hidden diamond”.
“It’s just an outstanding home in every way but it is a home as well. It’s got a beautiful soul and beautiful feel about the home … it’s not a cold masterpiece,” Ms Fowler said.
Expressions of interest close on April 29 at 5pm.
