Belmont buyers ditch investment property plan to move in
Buyers who fell for what was meant to be a Belmont investment property have decided to keep the accessible corner block all to themselves.
Buyers who started out looking for an investment property are set to move into a Belmont house after realising they wanted to keep it all to themselves.
The new owners of 18 Laura Avenue have decided to rent out their own residence over the modern four-bedroom house they secured in post-auction negotiations on Saturday.
They bought the 650sq m corner block for an undisclosed sum after it was passed in. Price hopes had been $695,000 to $745,000.

Hayeswinckle, Highton agent Michelle Winckle said there was another buyer in the crowd who was unable to bid under auction conditions.
Ms Winckle said the brick house appealed as it was “very modern” by Belmont standards, with open-plan living, a large covered outdoor entertainment area and two bathrooms.
“They were local buyers and they were looking for an investment and they fell in love with it, they’re going to put their home up for rent,” she said.
“They came through every single week and after about three weeks she decided that she definitely wanted to live there.”
She expected the generous garaging, with space for five cars, to be a big drawcard but that turned out to be just a nice bonus.
“It was the corner block, that’s what they loved more than the garaging, which was amazing,” she said.
