Bayswater house seeks buyer to splash more than $4 million
YOU might expect to see a price tag of this magnitude in Melbourne’s well-heeled inner-east. But out in the ‘burbs, a Bayswater house is has a multimillion-dollar asking price. This is why.
BAYSWATER is in store for a jaw-dropping residential sale that could smash the record price by almost $1 million.
The sprawling site at 6 Highmoor Rd, believed to be one of the largest residential properties in the suburb at 3321sq m, has price hopes of $4 million-$4.4 million.
If a buyer was to open their wallet at the top end of the price guide, it would obliterate the record set at 639 Mountain Highway. The property sold for $3.45 million in 2015.
Buxton Camberwell agent Andy Shi said he understood No. 6 was one of the oldest in the suburb, and was likely to have once occupied farmland.
“It’s an absolutely beautiful home, and I hope it will be integrated into a new development,” Mr Shi said.

While the property falls within a growth zone and could support a three-storey apartment development, Mr Shi said he expected the original house would remain standing among an aged-care or childcare project.
“I think will happen, is that the existing house will act as a reception centre, and they’ll be able to build a aged care or childcare centre around it,” he said.
“You can build apartments anywhere, but for something special like this, you need to think outside the box.
“Council are going to be more willing to grant a permit for an aged care or childcare facility than they are apartments, because that’s what the community needs.”
CoreLogic data showed Bayside’s median house price grew 15.6 per cent to $798,750 across the 12 months to January.
