Asher Keddie and her artist husband, Vincent Fantauzzo, are still seeking a buyer for their Elwood home.

The four-bedroom Edwardian at 57 Milton St attracted a single $2.6 million bid from the 70-strong crowd before passing in.

Marshall White Bayside auctioneer Matthew Pillios said highest bidder had raised their offer to $2.655 million shortly after. But he was still negotiating with several parties and expected a deal to be done in the coming week.

The property had been quoted at $2.45-$2.625 million.

Keddie and Fantauzzo bought it in 2015 for $2.061 million, CoreLogic records show.

The Stateless star and the award-winning painter renovated the house, adding a marble kitchen and a fresh coat of paint, updating the black timber floors, and landscaping.

“The home, with its beautiful period features, has been a pleasure to restore,” the couple previously told the Herald Sun.

“We love blending the old with the contemporary so it was the perfect house to achieve that.

The high-profile couple said they’d also loved the peaceful neighbourhood and the bay windows in both living spaces that had created “a beautiful ambience looking out to the canopy of trees surrounding the house”.

Pressed-metal ceilings, open fireplaces and a wraparound veranda add further charm to the historic home.

Mr Pillios said Keddie and Fantauzzo were selling because they wanted to move closer to their kids’ schools.

They had split their time between the Elwood house and a Macedon Ranges retreat, up until they sold that place for about $2.15 million in 2017.
