Alastair Clarkson: Hawthorn coach sells Brighton home of 20 years
Legendary Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson has had an off-field win, booting his home of more than 20 years. This is where the four-time premiership coach came to unwind after his success.
Four-time Hawthorn premiership coach Alastair Clarkson has scored another win, selling his Brighton family home at auction.
The commanding house at 114 Carpenter St is understood to have sold for $2.92 million under the hammer on February 29.
It’s a figure well above the $2.4-$2.6 million price guide quoted for the four-bedroom property before the auction.

Clarkson and his wife, Caryn, owned the property for more than 20 years, public records show.
The address previously changed hands for $423,000 in 1997, according to CoreLogic.
James Buyer Advocates attended the auction and reported the sale price, which has not been formally disclosed.
Two bidders battled for the keys on the day, among a crowd of about 60 people.
Whitefox agent Shane Siemers would not comment on the identity of the vendors or the sale price, but said the auction was a success.
“It went very well, the property was out of the box very quickly and it sold without us having to take a halftime break,” Mr Siemers said.
“A local family bought the property and plan to live there.”
He said the home’s location in the heart of Brighton had attracted a number of interested buyers.
Another feature was the “great floorplan”, which included a main bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and ensuite zoned to the front of the house, and all remaining bedrooms on the first floor. An open-plan living and kitchen area features a large island bench and walk-in pantry.
The Clarksons added a pool and entertainment deck to the north-facing backyard while living at the property.
The couple bought the house about the same time they had their first child, daughter Stephanie. Their other children, Georgia and Matt, were born just a few years later.
The top coach took on the job at Hawthorn in 2005 and led the club to premiership glory against Geelong in 2008. He further cemented his success by securing three consecutive Grand Final wins between 2013 and 2015.
Clarkson started his footy career as a player for North Melbourne in 1987. After 93 games, the forward was recruited by Melbourne, before hanging up his boots in 1997.
