$500 final bid seals million-dollar Geelong waterfront precinct home
Oh so little separated two buyers contesting a renovated home in one of central Geelong’s most beautiful streets.
An incredible canopy provided by Chinese camphor street trees will provide Geelong buyers with the perfect location to host their grandchildren.
The couple secured the renovated three-bedroom house at 13 Vincent Ave, Geelong for $1,235,500 at Saturday’s auction.
The local couple was one of two parties to bid for the 633sq m property.

The buyers are planning to relocate to the city fringe location, close to Western Beach and the CBD.
“It’s beautiful — a great location, a great house,” they said.
The buyers said the purchase was a bit like downsizing for them.
“We’re downsizing a little bit and we can fit the grandchildren in. As long as we’ve got room for the grandchildren we’re right.”
The two-storey brick veneer house last sold in 2014 for $730,000.
Since then, the owners have completely updated the house and garden.
McGrath, Geelong auctioneer David Cortous said it was a stunning property beneath the canopy provided by the exotic street trees.
“The home is circa 1950s with beautiful gardens,” he said.
“When you step through the front door, the home has been completely updated, with a new kitchen and new bathrooms and it’s got living zones everywhere.
“I had the pleasure the other day of sitting out there on the back deck and it is a special spot.
“The beautiful Geelong waterfront is one block away and it’s only a 10 minute stroll to the cafes and restaurants on the waterfront and brings lifestyle into play,” Mr Cortous said.
The property had been offered with a price range from $1.2 million to $1.3 million.
Bidding opened at $950,000 and raced to $1.2 million with a series of bids between $50,000 and $25,000.
Mr Cortous confirmed it was on the market at $1.23 million.
The underbidder declared he was happy for his rival to take the home following a final $500 bid.
