$1.63m sale of ‘bold’ contemporary house boosts faith in Drysdale’s premium market
A premium Bellarine Peninsula sale has rewarded the vendors’ faith that a buyer would embrace their high-end modern build.
THE $1.63 million sale of a showpiece architectural home in Drysdale is a positive sign for the town’s premium market.
The sprawling family home at 13-17 Lauriston Lane sold after a lengthy campaign to buyers keen on its contemporary edge.
High-end builder Riverview Building Solutions crafted the five-bedroom house, which features formed concrete, silver top ash and charcoal cladding and 100-year-old recycled beams from the Glenmaggie Bridge.

Bellarine Property, Barwon Heads agent Lee Martin said there weren’t many comparable houses in the area, where top sales tend to be on larger acreage.
He put the premium 4955sq m lifestyle property into a similar category to homes in Ocean Grove’s Yellow Gums Estate.
“We always had faith that it would sell at this level,” Mr Martin said.
“It’s a new precedent for Drysdale.”
The house is designed around a central living zone with raked ceilings, a two-way wood fire and large sliding doors onto a north-facing outdoor entertainment area with a firepit.
There’s also a one-bedroom self-contained guesthouse, ideal for family or a holiday rental.
“There have been some homes that were just a bit more conventional and (the buyers) were looking for something a bit more bold,” Mr Martin said.
