The 1700 sqm compound, purchased for $19.03 million ($US14.65 million) in 2020, has nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms is home to the couple, their one-year-old son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and a daughter due later this year.

Inside the uber salubrious Chateau of Riven Rock, as it is known, there is a foyer with a staircase, an elevator, living and dining rooms, a gourmet kitchen with a butler’s pantry, a breakfast room, a family room, a library, a billiards room with a wet bar, a home theatre, a gym, a wine cellar and a spa with a massage room, the Post reports.

Meghan and Harry’s cream-coloured owner’s bedroom suite has a fireplace, a television, a chandelier, exposed wood beams on the ceiling, French doors and a balcony. Attached is an extravagant bathroom, which includes a fireplace, a chandelier, a marble bathtub and a large vanity, plus another sitting room, according to Home Advisor.

Fans were afforded a sneak peak at the home in a webcam call this summer, revealing cream walls, dark window frames and some plants.

The mansion is of course gorgeous, but viewers were most interested in the family’s chicken coop, which has a sign that reads, “Archie’s Chick Inn. Established 2021.” Harry can be seen feeding their chickens, which were rescued from a factory farm, in a recorded clip played during the interview.

Their five-acre estate also boasts rose gardens, century-old olive trees, an outdoor pizza oven, pool, playground, vegetable garden, tennis court, a two-bedroom guesthouse, a tea house and a children’s house.

Their new house is close to Santa Barbara beach. Footage of Archie playing on the shore was shown as part of the CBS special. The home is also near their known celebrity friends, Ellen DeGeneres and, of course, Winfrey, who courted the ex-royals for years to land the interview.

The interview was originally rumoured to have been filmed at Harry and Meghan’s Montecito house, but Oprah confidante and “CBS This Morning” host Gayle King told reporters the interview was shot at “a friend’s house,”

Montecito holds a connection to Meghan’s former life as a lesser-known actress.

The area is subject to the weather phenomenon The Pineapple Express, which brings heavy rains across from Hawaii and was the eponymous title of the ‘hit’ 2008 film.
