Graffiti vandals destroy couple’s dream home
A couple have been left at “breaking point” after their new dream home was trashed by graffiti vandals.
A “devastated” couple waiting to move into their dream home have been left at “breaking point” after vandals trashed their house, covered it in graffiti and smashed the windows.
Over the Labour Day long weekend, the couple’s new home in in Mango Hill, north of Brisbane, was nearing completion when vandals took advantage and caused “thousands of dollars worth” of damage.
The outside of the home has been covered in white, red and lime green spray paint.
The homeowner, who did not want to be identified, said it had been a tough few days after the property was covered in graffiti.
“My partner can’t even come and look at the house because it’s just so devastating,” they told 7NEWS.
“We are at breaking point now in terms of what we’re supposed to do as a community to stop these people.”
Red, white and black spray paint has covered the kitchen bench, and the windows around the home have been smashed.
They said construction of their home had begun in September 2022, and they were due to collect the keys as early as June this year.
CCTV footage has reportedly captured what appears to be a group of young people coming and going from the home on multiple occasions, but police are yet to confirm who is responsible.
Residents in the new development area have reportedly confirmed that other homes have also been vandalised.
Queensland Police told NCA NewsWire that it was continuing to investigate the incident.
