Karl Stefanovic struggles to sell $7m+ coastal retreat

TV star Karl Stefanovic was hoping to double his money when he put his stunning holiday home on the market, but things didn’t work out how he had planned.

The listings wowing buyers

There was no sale when the occasional Sunshine Beach retreat of the Today host Karl Stefanovic and his shoe designer wife Jasmine Yarbrough went to its midweek auction, attended only by registered local and interstate bidders.

The couple had paid $3.6 million in January 2020, ahead of the pandemic, and when word came of its settlement in March that year, coastal holiday markets were set to soar.

Perhaps not as high as the recent appraisal from estate agents who told Stefanovic it could fetch as much as $7.5 million, with its Tom Offermann listing agent Michael McComas certainly still expecting $7 million plus.

While waiting for an acceptable offer, Villa Isabelle continues as the Vogue-featured $3700 a night peak season holiday rental.

Apparently the couple have only spent five weeks there in the past two-and-a-half years, signalling to their journo mate Peter Glesson they intend to buy again on the Sunshine Coast near Noosa’s up-market Hastings St “at some point”.

The multi-level villa features five bedrooms and five bathrooms, plus a north-facing terrace and chef’s kitchen as well as a climate-controlled cellar.

There’s palladiana terrazzo tiling, sunken lounge, and Ibiza pendant lights. Colour and texture have been curated as marble, micro cement, stone, and travertine reportedly combine to create an earthy, warm feel.

The 2009-built hillside home, some 200m from the water, had been on the market for 420 days before the couple swooped to buy it from chef Jean Luc Chaudet. Overlooking the Coral Sea views from its 506sqm Seaview Terrace block, the home has 544sqm living space. The home got its makeover by Jasmine’s interior designer sister, Jade Yarbrough.
