How good would it be to slip into one of the world’s greatest cities and crash at your own $100m pad for a few days?

Don’t ask us because we have no idea what it would be like.

But James Packer certainly does.

The Daily Telegraph reported Packer quietly slipped into his childhood home city of Sydney late last week and bedded down at his luxury One Barangaroo apartment.

Packer jetted into Sydney following the recent split with his girlfriend, American model Renee Blythewood. Packer is believed to be in town briefly to see his mother, Ros, who is recovering from a torn achilles tendon.

Lights are apparently kept on at the One Barangaroo apartment, which boasts some of Sydney’s best views, for such a splendid but rare occurrence.

But when Mr Packer isn’t in town, the shutters are pulled down and one of Sydney’s best apartments is left largely unattended, even unloved.

Packer bought the luxury ‘Sky Home’ seven years ago for $72m. And given the booming Sydney real estate market since then, it would almost certainly be worth in the vicinity of $100m now if it were to go up for sale. Especially given the combined apartments are now the finished product.

Packer bought in 2017 off the plan and the home was only fully finished last year, when he flew in to Sydney to check out his newest pad.

The home makes up two floors in the mid-level of One Barangaroo.

What greets Packer as he ascends to the 48th and 49th floors and kicks his shoes off will be jaw-dropping views over Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

Packer renovated the apartment, installing an elevator and removing stairs, with other features including Scandinavian bleached birch wood, ripple textured bronze glass and silver-veined stone slabs from Greece.

When he purchased the home, Packer planned that his ex wife Erica would decorate.

“It’s going to be a family apartment that I will use when I’m in Sydney, Erica will use when she’s in Sydney, and our kids will also use when they’re in Sydney,” he said.

The couple previously shared a home in Sydney’s east, La Mer, which they sold for $70m in 2015.

Packer was in town to visit family but it was a fleeting trip, with the billionaire due to be in New York this week when his good friend Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu addresses the UN.
