Is it a groovy cocktail bar, a studio apartment, or both?

A dual-purpose studio apartment has been fitted out to serve as a cocktail bar and a home.

FANCY a quick drink before heading home for the night?

Well it’s only a few steps from this grooved cocktail bar until your head can hit the pillow.

A “micro-pad’’ believed to be one of the smallest studio apartments ever released onto the market in Mayfair in London is available for rent for a $1134 a week.

Marketing agent Peter Wetherell of Wetherell says the 30sq m studio flat converts from a mini cocktail bar to a home in a matter of moments.

The fourth-floor flat is designed with a cocktail bar, night club-style interior.

But fold out the large couch and it quickly turns into a studio apartment.

It has views overlooking the heart of Mayfair and the interior has been dramatically “sexed up” with coffered ceiling with light features, cocktail-bar shelving, wall mirrors and a black-metallic panelled drinks bar with barstools.

There is a Louis Vuitton-style panelled cupboards and ebony coloured faux leather flooring.

Mr Wetherell says it is a world away from a conventional studio flat interior.

Doors open onto an outside cocktail terrace.

Even the bathroom has a touch of the nightclub about it with black and gold patterned mosaics.

Hidden within the bar is a cooking hob, oven, drawers and cupboards which allow the space to be used as a kitchen.

The sofa and drinks area converts into a bedroom suite, with the wall panelling opening to reveal a built-in wardrobe.

One side of the wardrobe is for clothing storage while the other is a foldaway utility room with washing machine, shelving for an ironing board and other appliances.

“While this might be one of the smallest homes ever released onto the Mayfair market, it is also one of the most clever interior design schemes Wetherell have been instructed to promote,’’ Mr Wetherell said.

“The design is ingenious. The living space can be arranged to provide a cocktail bar/nightclub style ambience, the next, it can be transformed into a cosy home with kitchen, dining area and bedroom.’’
