Doomsday prepping is not known to be the most luxurious of lifestyles, but one $30 million (A$46.1 million) nuclear bunker looks set to change that stereotype once and for all.

According to Realtor, the sprawling space would offer survivalists the chance to own a piece of subterranean property where they can shelter from disaster, all while enjoying an array of ultra-modern amenities.

Named the “Survival Condo,” the staggering 1858 sqm structure in Kansas is a state-of-the-art underground facility that houses multiple condo units — from full-floor homes to penthouse apartments, all of which are available for very deep-pocketed doomsday preppers to purchase.

The full extent of the amenities inside the ultraluxurious nuclear shelter have now been revealed in a YouTube video posted by Rob Hubbard, CEO and founder of Atlas Survival Shelters, a company that specialises in doomsday abodes.

“Welcome to the world’s most hi-tech, luxury bomb shelter located right here in good old Kansas,” he begins the video, while standing outside the enormous reinforced doors to the underground dwelling.

Leading up to the bunker is a private driveway armed with a guard to protect the imposing structure from any unwanted visitors.

The bunker itself is only minimally visible at ground level, where a camouflaged shell that is designed to withstand a 20 kiloton nuclear warhead sits behind large fences.

“If it detonated within a half mile, they would still be fully functional,” Hubbard says of the nuclear protection.

Meanwhile the impressive doors to the domelike structure are built to withstand 8 tonnes of weight, and there is indoor and outdoor parking meant to accommodate armoured vehicles.

Once inside the bunker itself, residents descend through the expansive underground condo building via an elevator system, with Hubbard revealing that every possible precaution has been taken to ensure the 15-storey structure can withstand any kind of incident or attack.

An air filtration system guards against any fallout from nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons, while the exterior walls of the structure are 16 inches thick, with further protection added in the form of a 45-foot layer of concrete chunks designed to shift and absorb shockwaves.

“Here’s an interesting tidbit for you viewers: Our structural engineers have calculated the water and all the deteriorating environmental effects on the structure of this bunker, and it’s estimated it’ll last over 1,000 years,” Hubbard says.

There’s a 94,635 litres, underground diesel tank with a smart filter, a fire-control room, and a water pump that keeps constant freshwater.

In addition to the many layers of protection the bunker offers, it also boasts an array of top-of-the-line amenities that one might be surprised to find in an average above-ground apartment building, let alone one that extends below ground. (Picture: Atlas Survival Shelters via YouTube)

Two Caterpillar diesel generators can run the whole facility, and doors that work in tandem in a lockdown situation open and close, room to room. Everything is bulletproof.

There’s a decontamination room, gas masks, radiation scrubs, and biohazard scrubs available inside, along with stockpiles of large batteries, including two submarine batteries to further power the bunker.

However, in addition to the many layers of protection the bunker offers, it also boasts an array of top-of-the-line amenities that one might be surprised to find in an average above-ground apartment building, let alone one that extends below ground.

Inside the common areas of the underground condo building can be found an expansive indoor swimming pool (complete with a water slide), a shooting range, dog park, game room (with an Xbox and arcade games), a movie theatre, and even an indoor climbing wall.

Additionally, the bunker has a hydroponic garden to ensure that food supplies never dry up, as well as numerous pantries that are filled with decades-worth of canned foods.

There are also a number of spaces meant for socialising, including classrooms for children, a fully stocked pub, and a workout room. Should health issues arise for any of the condo’s inhabitants, they need only visit the on-site medical and surgery centre.

“Our objective when first approaching this project was to leave no stone unturned and to ensure that every detail, from safety, feature, and function to style, comfort, and luxury … every aspect of this endeavour had to be just right,” the “Survival Condo” website states.

“The fact is, you can find other solutions for ‘survival living.’ Though none of the options today offer the peace of mind that comes with our state-of-the-art technologies, combined with the comfort and luxury that is offered through our Survival Condo ownership opportunity. Nothing even comes close.”

According to the site, the “Survival Condo” is capable of housing up to 75 people, with two different condo sizes available to buyers: half-floor and full-floor layouts.

“The full-floor layouts are designed for six to 10 people, and the half-floor layouts are designed for three to five people,” it explains.

“Each residential unit is provisioned with a five-year supply of freeze-dried and dehydrated survival food per person. This is a high-quality food that has a shelf life of more than 20 years and is stored in special oxygen-free containers.

“This means that a full-floor residential unit has a 30-man-year supply of food, and a half-floor residential unit has a 15-man-year supply of food.”

Condos inside the doomsday bunker range in price from $1.3 million (A$2 million) for a half-floor space to $2.4 million (A$3.7 million) for a full-floor apartment.
