Inside Australian billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes’ new house-like $120m private jet
Aussie billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes has a new celebrity toy to go with his F1 team, NRL side and NBA franchise after dropping $120 million on a wild item amid splitting with his wife.
“Conflicted” climate change billionaire activist Mike Cannon-Brookes has another new toy to go along with his Formula One racing outfit, his NRL side and his NBA franchise – a private jet.
And it’s not just any private jet, this one’s as big as a house.
The Atlassian co-founder has just bought a Bombardier Global 7500 – the personal jet of choice of Hollywood luvvies including Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg, reality TV star Kylie Jenner and fellow Aussie rich lister Andrew ‘Twiggy Forrest.

The Bombardier 7500 comes with a price tag of around $120m – even more than the man known as MCB spent when he laid down $100m for his Sydney Harbourside home in 2018, which was then a Sydney home price record.
The tech guru’s new Bombardier is a house in the sky and offers the space and luxuries most Aussies don’t even enjoy in their on-ground residences. In fact according to Bombardier’s marketing collateral: “in the Global 7500 aircraft’s Principal Suite, [owners can] discover the soothing tranquillity of home”.
This jet-home features a number of living configurations and boasts a four-zone cabin that can seat up to 19 passengers and sleep eight.

The plane/home layout includes:
+ a private ensuite bathroom with a permanent full-size bed and a stand-up shower
+ An entertainment suite with a 55 inch 4K TV and a three-seat divan that can be turned into a bed
+ A conference suite that doubles as dining room: “Bring guests together for a business lunch or a family dinner and savour fine cuisine, meticulously prepared in the industry’s largest and most well-appointed kitchen.”
Did we mention it also has a kitchen?
+ And not forgetting the ‘Club Suite: “this bright and inviting living space creates the perfect environment for quiet reflection, conversation and business productivity,” the Bombardier website reads.

It even features a “sophisticated air purification system” that offers “both purified and 100 per cent fresh air”.
Life and living is so much better up there!
In addition to the $116m sticker price, there are considerable running costs – not that costs matter when you have a net worth of $22.13bn like Cannon-Brookes, according to Forbes.
The Global 7500, costs around $15m a year to run – which based on an average of 450 owner-operated hours comes down to about $16,000 to run.
Of course with most of these toys, if you have to ask how much they cost you can’t afford them.

According to Bombardier, the Global 7500 has a range of around 14,300km, which gets it from Sydney to Los Angeles with fuel to spare and has a top cruising speed of 956kmh.
But please don’t mention the planet-killing gases it emits as it does.
The 7500 adds to Cannon-Brookes’ list of boys toys which includes the Williams F1 team, the NRL’s South Sydney Rabbitohs and the NBA’s Utah Jazz.
For his part, Cannon-Brookes who says he is ‘determined to push Australia towards a carbon neutral future’ is “conflicted” about the purchase.

“I’m not denying I have a deep internal conflict on this,” he wrote on social media.
“Personal security is the primary reason (an unfortunate reality of my world), but also so I can run a global business from Australia, and still be a constantly present dad.
“So, this is a hard, continual trade-off I’ve decided to make.”
Cannon-Brookes split with his wife Annie split in 2023 after 10 years of marriage and are currently in the middle of divorce proceedings as they look to split up their considerable assets, which include a real estate portfolio which stretches across Australia and is valued at more than $350m.
The couple have four children together.
