The Woollahra residence is owned by another real estate legend, James Dack, who grew up in a Wooloomooloo housing commission terrace but rose to be a top-selling agent at McGrath for 25 years, and his wife Mary Cowin Dack, daughter of the Hungry Jacks founder, billionaire Jack Cowin.

According to records, they’d bought the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home with double garage on a 1,140 sqm block for $10.6m from property developer Rob Palmer and his wife, Inge, in 2011.

And it was these owners who’d rented the property to Jackman and Furness in 2008 during the movie-shoot at Fox Studios at Moore Park. They had it listed soon after for $5000 a week.

The blue-ribbon estate is exceptionally private and hidden from the street.

Reminiscent of a European villa, it’s not hard to imagine Jackman and Furness, in happier times, relaxing in the poolside cabana.

There are multiple living areas and a loggia flowing to alfresco terraces, the tennis court and manicured gardens.
