A stunning hinterland retreat on the Sunshine Coast property is going to auction after a year-long renovation.

The 6.5ha estate named ‘Beau Ciel’ at 230 Yandina Bli Bli Road, Maroochy River, has a luxury resort feel and direct access to hiking, horse riding and mountain biking trail in the Parklands Conservation Park.

Owners Richard and Jodie Wankmuller bought the home in March 2021 and spent the next 12 months reimagining the estate with a modern Belgium farmhouse aesthetic as inspiration.

The couple has redone eight homes in the past four years and set about making this one shine. “It’s a real teamwork effort between my wife and I – we enjoy repurposing things and my wife is really good at styling,” Mr Wankmuller said.

“Now you walk in and (the house) feels like home.

“My wife is able to do that every time.

“Everyone who buys our houses says they just feel like home.”

The Wankmullers left the stately bluestone exterior of property largely untouched but completely gutted the interior and made over the outdoor entertaining areas and grounds.

“Now the home is very clean and open with lots of light and big views,” Mrs Wankmuller said.

“The kitchen, dining and living areas are all open and flow out to the back patio where there is a fireplace and areas to sit and look out to the view.”

The home features European Oak timber floors, travertine and timber finishes, high ceilings and a neutral colour palette.

The living spaces are at the heart of the single storey home with master suite in one wing and the two remaining bedrooms, a bathroom and a media room in another.

The kitchen has a butler’s pantry, integrated ridge and freezer, wine fridge, Caesarstone benchtops and a Falcon freestanding oven with gas cooktop.

The lounge area has a gas fireplace and there are huge picture windows taking in the views in both the lounge and dining areas.

“The master ensuite is one of the best ensuites anyone will see,” Mr Wankmuller said.

“It’s a big space with double showers and free standing bath, all done with very high finishes including Italian travertine tiles.”

The master bedrooms also has a walk-in wardrobe and a private deck with views to Mt Coolum.

Mr Wankmuller said some of his favourite spaces in the home were the outdoor areas.

“I have an outdoor office in the barbecue area and it’s a magic place to do conference calls and work,” he said.

Designed around the views and the infinity-edge pool, the outdoor area includes several spaces.

There is a covered living area with integrated fire pit, a second covered area with daybed off the children’s wing and an expansive paved poolside space.

A barbecue pavilion has a built-in barbecue, pizza oven, bar fridge and a suspended day bed.

There is also a second fire pit area on the grounds.

“In the summer you can laze by the pool and in winter you can rug up and sit by a fire inside and out,” Mr Wankmuller said.

The property also comes with a double garage and state of the art gym.

Mr Wankmuller said the property was an escape from reality.

“It’s a great place to get away from people,” he said.

“You can walk out into the backyard and onto the trail system where you can horse ride, walk or bike ride.

“My wife would take the dogs out walking along the trails for hours.”

Mr Wankmuller said he and his wife would miss the views and the connection to the outdoors ‘Beau Ciel’ offered.

“I don’t think people appreciate privacy until you have it, and once you do it’s hard to give up,” he said.

“The views are spectacular – you step out of the house and you feel like you’re stepping into them.

“This home will be perfect for someone who appreciates quality, being able to enjoy their home and environment and who really appreciates the finer things in life.

“A lot of thought has gone into it the materials used, the floor plan and the angles of the view.”

The property is going to auction on March 15 at 10am and is being marketed by Richard Bowen and Heath McOrist of Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty – Noosa Heads.
