IF you fancy a small holiday before the school year gets underway you might want to try out these tiny holiday homes.

Who says you need to book a palatial mansion to get away from it all? These tiny holiday homes listed on HomeAway might be small on space, but they show good things come in small packages.

Even the local horses at the North Carolina Clearfield Cottage are on the small side.

While it looks tiny from the outside the cottage which is listed for rent on HomeAway sleeps four people.

The two-storey cottage has views of Mount Mitchell and surrounding mountains. Inside are original artworks and mosaics by the owner artist, Rachel Clearfield.

In Texas this Canyon Lake holiday cottage might be small but it comes with all the bells and whistles including a hot tub.

The one bedroom, one bathroom cottage was built from reclaimed building materials.

It has stained glass windows, antique wood floors and a ladder to a sleeping loft which holds a kingsize bed.

In Colorado Springs a Parisian-style cottage with its own garden also sleeps four. While it looks tiny on the outside there is plenty of room inside.

The fully-remodelled 1909 cottage is decked out in a French theme, with antique French china and antique silver. There is a front porch, hardwood floors inside and the living room has chandeliers.

Known as Bambi’s Nest the one bedroom Airstream Bambi Travel Trailer is parked at Sonoma County.

It may not have much room but it does have a big screen flat screen television, surround sound and maid service from the neighbouring motel.
